This is an interesting topic, one subject to much debate. The two most popular smart phones in the world, the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 are widely known to be somewhere on an even playing field when it comes to functionality. Yes, they operate on a completely different operating system, The Galaxy S4 uses Google’s Android OS whereas the iPhone 5 uses Apples proprietary ‘IOS’ operating system. We are mostly guilty for sticking to the one side of the fence and happily stay there however, come time to cut the hay we can all honestly agree with each other that they all do the same. When you spend up to, in some cases $1000 on a smart phone namely an iPhone 5 or Samsung S4, you would think taking some time to analyze the durability of the devices would rank rather highly in ones buyer decision process.
General wear and tear seems to go in favor of the Apple iPhone, Apples High quality aluminum and magnesium parts which seem to make it stand the test of time. One great thing that Apple have done with the next generation iPhone is imbed the screen so when dropped it reduces the chance that the force is point loaded on the glass, The 4th generation iPhone was an absolute sucker for this. With regards to the internals, Apples are Apples and they have once again managed to incorporate only the best possible parts. The iPhone 5 also features an aluminum back, unlike its predecessor which was glass and would break if you looked at.
Despite having a plastic back cover the Samsung S4 seems to be one tough smart phone, it features an aluminum bezel, which like iPhone 5 is the main structure for the device. The thing that sets the Samsung S4 apart from its rival is the super tough Gorilla glass and scratch resistant screen, You can bet your bottom dollar that if your S4 drops to the floor that it will more than likely come away unscathed. There was a drop test performed by an insurance company called Square Trade which tested the iPhone 5 against the Galaxy S4, Yes you’re right, the Samsung S4 came away victorious.
At ScreenFix Brisbane we believe that they are both tremendous devices that are incredibly durable. I think that you could put the dream smart phone together if you stole the Gorilla Glass from the S4 and put it into the iPhone 5, together with the iPhone 5′s great internal componentry, magnesium back cover and aluminum bezel it would be one amazing device. In reality we can not do this so considering the screen is always the component that will be broken before anything else, in order to keep the repair bill to a minimum then we suggest going with the Samsung S4.
