Samsung Galaxy S21 Review

Introducing Samsung’s New Powerhouse Smartphone – Samsung Galaxy S21. Samsung is one of the leading brands in the world when it comes to smartphone technology. And one of the most popular brands of smartphones made by this company goes by the name of Galaxy. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was announced recently, and it will soon hit the shelves all across the world.

Right off the bat, we have to note that this is one of the most advanced, most luxurious smartphones that you can find on the market. As the “ultra” suggests, the Samsung engineers have cranked the phone’s specifications to a near extreme. As such, it makes perfect sense that this particular smartphone will be on the more expensive side. Regardless, if you’re interested in learning more about what the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has to offer, be sure to read the rest of our review below.

Display and design

You may expect that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will be overly cluttered – again, as the word “ultra” suggests. Luckily, this is not the case. The display and the design are neat, everything is well-organized and looking good. Even though there are 6 cameras in total – this doesn’t detract from the overall beauty of the phone and it doesn’t make it seem overcluttered at all.

The display is 6.8 inches in size and it’s just big enough to maybe stretch your hand a little bit. The screen itself is stretched from edge to edge – and practically you won’t even notice the bezel. The screen has the option to change the refresh rate – as per the needs of the viewer. By default, the device will set a lower screen refresh rate to preserve battery life. You can change the screen’s refresh rate from 11Hz to 120Hz. Also, the front camera is powerful, yet small enough to not be a nuisance as you use the screen for whatever it is that you want to do. Here at Screen Fixed, we believe Samsung screen repair prices will be somewhat more expensive than last years models due to COVID related supply chain complications.

Samsung S21 Ultra to Ship with S-Pen Australia

You can also use a stylus for maneuvering through the options on the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra screen. This makes this phone practically the first Galaxy S device with S Pen support. Of course, nobody is forcing you to purchase or use the pen – and it seems that nobody would wink an eye if you decide not to use one, as the tactile response from the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra screen makes it a perfect place where you can use your fingers to access the options.

Samsung introduces its new fingerprint sensor that’s, according to Samsung officials, easier to use and a lot faster. The screen has the option to get very bright – with a brightness of over 1,500 – which is perfect if you have problems with glare.

As for how the phone looks – Samsung’s engineers have managed to create a beautiful design that looks neat and sharp. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra comes in two colors – phantom white and phantom black. Both of these versions look equally good – it’s a matter of preference which one will be better according to your particular needs.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Camera Specs

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Camera

The camera is arguably (and perhaps ironically) one of the most used parts of any modern smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a lot to show in this sense. To start things off, the classic 108MP camera is once again available. Moreover, there are two additional 10MP telephoto cameras with up to 100x zoom. The 12MP ultra-wide camera has an f/2.2 sensor featuring a 120-degree field of view, with a 108MP Phase Detection f/1.8 wide-angle sensor and Optical Image Stabilization feature.

As a new addition to the camera arsenal is the so-called laser-assisted phase-detection autofocus (LAPDAF). The 100x zoom will be a very interesting feature to use – as you can now zoom in a lot further than with the Note 20 Ultra model that featured a 50x zoom option.

As for the front camera, you will be able to take detailed and sharp selfies. The camera is 40MP. As a new option comes the so-called “director’s view” where you can make video footage with the front and back camera at the same time. For keeping things fun you can now use the Single Take 2.0 option to slow things down in your videos.

Performance

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is a literal powerhouse when it comes to performance. The model offers a setup of either 12GBs or incredible 16GBs of ram – which is more than what some of the most modern laptops offer. However, there’s a drawback in that you will get a fixed 128GBs of room on the device – without the option to use microSD sticks to increase space. You can, however, get a device with 256GBs or even 512GBs, but Samsung charges a lot more money for these options than what seems reasonable to most.

The US market will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, while the rest of the world will get the Exynos 2100 chipset. While it’s undoubtedly true that these are very powerful chipsets, it will still be interesting to compare them to the traditionally speedier Apple A chipsets. As for the operating system, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra runs on Android 11 and One UI 3.1.

Galaxy S21 Battery Life

The battery is also important – and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with a powerful 5,000 mAh battery. This means that you will be able to use the phone for an entire day without the battery going out. A thing to note though is that you will have to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S21 charger separately from the phone, as well as the headphones, which is kind of ironic since Samsung launched a mini-campaign recently to mock Apple’s decision to not include a charger with their iPhones.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Price Australia

Now comes the most difficult part about any of the most modern smartphones on the market – its price. And, as you may have expected, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra price is rather high. However, a good thing to note is that the price is somewhat smaller than the price of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra phone of last year, which is always a good thing.

You can play around with some of the specifications, but the price is set at about AU$1849. You will need to pay a bit more if you pick the 16GBs ram version of the phone – and you will need to pay surprisingly a lot more, as we’ve mentioned before, if you pick a model with 256GBs or 512GBs of room. Either way, if your goal is to purchase a modern flagship phone that has powerful specs, you will come to realize that the price is quite fair.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Repairability

Samsung Galaxy S21 Repairs Australia

Samsung have always made their Galaxy range of devices repair friendly – not only do they sell parts to repair shops, they also design Galaxy devices in a way where repairs can be completed perfectly outside of the factory. Screen Fixed to day has repaired thousands of Samsung Galaxy devices, most which have been repaired with Samsung Service Pack parts.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Series and S21 Ultra are shipped with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Victus which is the strongest glass to be installed on any smartphone. It’s our believe that though this device will be stronger that its predecessor (Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra), there will still be a need for Samsung Galaxy Repairs in Australia. S21 Ultra rear camera glass repairs as well as Samsung Galaxy S21 screen replacements will be a common need through 2021.

Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra manages to live up to the incredibly high expectations that customers tend to have for the newest flagship phones – and, in some cases, it even powers through these expectations. The cameras are as solid as ever and the chipset and ram specifications make this one of the fastest smartphones on the market. Of course, the price follows the specifications, but it’s not so over-the-top as to make this phone inaccessible for the wider public. All in all – we love using the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Its sleek elegance and usability features will be hard to match by the competitors in the near future.
