Every step is very defined and clear and there is also the pictorial illustration for better guidance. So let’s start the process. So, let’s begin the process!
Before You Start the iPhone 16 Earpiece Speaker Replacement
There are some very important points that you should know before starting the process of iPhone 16 earpiece speaker replacement.
* The foremost thing is you should know what tools and equipment you will need during the procedure. Such as heat gun, opening picks, screwdrivers, suction handles, spudgers, tweezers, and adhesive replacements for the back glass and antenna.
* Further you have to choose the right place for a successful earpiece speaker replacement.
Step #1. Remove Plugins and Drain the Battery
* When you are preparing your iPhone 16v for disassembling please make sure no wire or plug-in is there.
* Another important thing is please make sure the battery is less than 25%. A charged battery is susceptible to catching fire if accidentally damaged by the metal tool.
Step #2. Switch Off iPhone 16
* at the same time press and hold the Side (Power) button and either the Volume Up or Volume Down button. You will need to hold both buttons for a few seconds.
* Keep holding the buttons until you see the “Slide to Power Off” option appear on your screen.
* When the slider appears place your finger on the white circle and swipe from left to right across the slider. This action will turn off your iPhone 16.
* After sliding wait a few seconds for your phone to power down completely. You will know it is off when the screen turns completely black.
Step #3. Remove Pentalobe Screws
* It’s time to remove the pentalobe screws on either side of the charging port.
* These screws are 7.7 mm long and you will need a P2 pentalobe screwdriver for unfastening these screws.
* Secure these screws in a safe place for reusing them while reassembling the phone.
Step #4. Application of the Heat and the Suction Handle
* To replace the earpiece speaker of the iPhone 16 we need to remove the back glass of the phone.
* So you have to apply the packing tape on the back glass if it is cracked or broken.
* All you need to do is apply packing tape strips overlapping on the entire back glass.
* Make sure there is a smooth place where you can apply the suction handle.
* Use heating equipment such as a heat gun or a hair dryer for heat application.
* Apply heat on every edge of the phone. But you have the option to apply heat on one edge and insert the opening then again apply heat one by one.
* Please don’t apply excessive heat. Extra heat can damage the battery and screen too.
* To avoid excessive heat you can check with your hands and feel the warmth. If the back glass is too hot to touch stop heating on that spot.
* Apply a suction handle near the bottom edge of the back glass.
* Make sure the suction handle should be applied squarely in the center as possible.
* Pull the suction handle upward to create a line gap for inserting the opening pick.
Step #5. Insert Opening Pick the the Bottom Edge
* Now we start from the bottom edge of the iPhone 16. Because it is the most secured area for inserting the opening pick at first.
* When you see a line gap created between the back glass and the frame insert the opening pick. Make sure to insert only 3 mm deep into the bottom edge of the iPhone 16.
* Well there is still spring contact beneath the back glass.
Step #6. Cilice the Adhesive
* It is time to move the pick to cut the adhesive between the back glass and the frame.
* Move the pick back and forth to slice the adhesive.
* Cut the adhesive from the bottom edge and take the pick to the right bottom corner of the phone.
* Rotate the pick and slide the pick from the corner to ward off the right edge and keep moving it toward the volume down button.
* Don’t slide across the volume buttons.
* In the middle you will feel a force stop. It is the metal clip that secures the back glass with the frame.
* Rotate the pick so that the flat side of the pick goes in. Now twist and turn the pick to release the clip.
* A releasing sound will make sure that the clip is unlatched.
* You can apply heat again if you find it hard to cut the adhesive.
* Leave the opening pick inserted near the volume down button.
Step #7. Insert Second Opening Pick
* Insert the second opening pick in the bottom edge of the iPhone 16.
* Move the pick forward left edge of the phone.
* You can apply heat too in this step if you need to.
* Separate the left corner of the phone.
* Take the pick on the left edge of the iPhone 16 to separate the back glass from the side.
* Again you will feel the force stop of the metal clip. Release the clip with the same trick as before.
* When the clip is released pass it and move toward the top left corner of the phone.
* Be careful not to insert the pick more than 3 mm near the cameras as you don’t want to damage the spring contacts.
* Take a second pick and gently slide it around the top left corner then along the top edge to loosen the adhesive and pop the metal clips.
* Keep sliding the pick around the top right corner until you reach the Action button. Take your time. It will come free without forcing it.
* You can twist and turn the pick near the action button and the volume down button to separate the glass from this side. Don’t take the pick across the action button or the volume button.
Step #8. Prop Up The Back Glass of the iPhone 16
* Gently swing the back glass open to the right side of the phone to release any remaining adhesive.
* Use a clean sturdy object to support the back glass. It could be a box or books.
* Make sure to remove the opening picks before proceeding with the next steps.
* Also remember at this stage the back glass should now be loose from the frame. If it still feels stuck carefully go around the edges again with your pick to make sure no adhesive or clips were missed.
Step #9. Remove the Middle Connector Cover
* Well you cannot separate the screen cause it is connected with the charging coil cable.
* Here you have to open the two screws securing the middle connector cover.
* You will need a tri-point Y000 driver to open these two 1 mm long screws.
* Keep them aside for reuse when reassembling the phone.
* To remove the connector cover use a pointed tip spudger and insert it in either cutout on the middle connector cover.
* Now push the cover toward the left edge of the phone. It will release the hook from its slot on the logic board.
* When you feel it’s free remove the middle connector cover.
Step #10. Disconnect the Battery and Charging Coil Cover
* As we know in any sort of part replacement or disassembling the phone we disconnect the battery first as soon as possible. This action secures them from further damage.
* So here in iPhone 16 we now disconnect the battery after revealing it and removing the middle connector cover.
* Use a pointed tip spudger and insert it into the press connector.
* Disconnect the battery press connector from the logic board.
* For disconnecting the charging coil press connector use the same pointed tip spudger and pry up the connection cable.
* Disconnect the charging coil connector from the battery.
* Now the back glass is free. You can lift the back glass away from the frame and place it in a secure place.
Step #11. Unfasten Top Bracket and Remove It
* Now we disconnect some more connections. To do this we have to open the top bracket of the phone.
* Use a screwdriver to unfasten four screws of the top bracket.
* There is one 3.4 mm long screw that will be opened through a Phillips screwdriver.
* Then there are two 1.4 mm long screws that will be opened by the same screwdriver.
* And lastly 1.0 mm long screws. For this use a tri-point Y000 screwdriver.
* When all the screws are removed you can lift the top bracket using a tweezer or with the help of your fingers.
* Put the top bracket safely aside.
Step #12. Disconnect the Front Camera and Remove It
* After removing the top bracket you will see the front camera connection and 5G mmWave antenna press connector.
* Here you will need a pointed tip spudger for prying up the two press connectors of the front camera. The second connector is underneath the first press connector.
* Disconnect the front camera from the logic board.
* Now insert the spudger between the top edge of the front camera and the frame.
* Push the spudger to lift the front camera and remove it from the frame.
Step #13. Remove the 5G mmWave Antenna
* First use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the press connector of the 5G mmWave antenna. Take your time to avoid damaging the connector.
* Next grab a pair of angled tweezers and grip the black pull tab located in the bottom right corner of the 5G mmWave antenna. Hold the antenna down gently with your other hand, then use the tweezers to slowly and steadily pull out the adhesive strip. Make sure you pull at a low angle and move slowly. It will allow the adhesive to stretch and release without breaking. Be patient as the adhesive takes time to fully loosen from beneath the antenna.
* If you find the adhesive strip difficult to grip try wrapping it around the tip of your tweezers to get a better hold. As you pull, keep twisting the tweezers gently to maintain a strong grip.
* In case the adhesive strip breaks off during this process try to catch it with your tweezers and continue pulling it out. However if the strip is completely stuck and you can’t retrieve it don’t worry just follow the alternative method.
Alternative Method
* If you are unable to recover the adhesive, apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol (over 90% concentration) to the bottom edge of the 5G mmWave antenna. This will help soften the adhesive.
* Raise the bottom edge of the phone slightly to let the alcohol flow under the antenna and loosen the adhesive.
* Wait for about a minute for the alcohol to work.
* Now use the flat end of your spudger and slide it under the top left edge of the 5G mmWave antenna right next to the front camera cutout. Gently pry up the antenna to break the adhesive bond.
* Finally lift the 5G mmWave antenna off the earpiece speaker and carefully remove it from the phone.
Step #14. Disconnect the Earpiece Speaker
* Again you will use a pointed tip spudger for prying up the press connector of the earpiece speaker.
* Disconnect the earpiece speaker press connector from the logic board.
* The earpiece speaker is fastened with the six screws.
* Three of them are 2.0 mm long screws and the other three are 1.4 mm long screws.
* Use Phillips Screwdriver to open the earpiece speaker screws.
Step #15. Remove The Earpiece Speaker of the iPhone 16
* Now you will need a flat tip spudger for prying up the earpiece speaker.
* Insert it into the top edge of the earpiece speaker just near the front camera cutout.
* Push the spudger to separate the earpiece speaker from its square cutouts at the top edge of the frame.
* When you see it lift up, grab the earpiece speaker with your fingers and remove it from its slot.
Step #16. iPhone 16 Earpiece Speaker Replacement
* With this step we are starting the reassembly process.
* First we will replace the earpiece speaker of the iPhone 16.
* Unwrap the new replacement earpiece speaker.
* Check the cutouts and insert the top edge of the earpiece speaker replacement into the cutouts.
* Push the speaker downward angle before pressing it to flat in the placement.
* Now press the speaker to settle down in its slot.
* As you know the earpiece speaker was fastened with six screws.
* Use the same screwdriver that you have used for unfastening the screws.
* Please make sure all the six screws are going back into their exact holes according to their sizes.
* Now it’s time to connect the new earpiece speaker replacement press connector to the logic board.
Step #17. Reassemble the 5G mmWave Antenna
* Well you can use this guide if you are replacing a new 5G mmWave antenna too.
* However reassembling the 5G mmWave antenna needs adhesive or double-sided tape for securing it on the new earpiece speaker replacement.
* First remove the old adhesive from the antenna or if there is one on the earpiece speaker.
* You can peel the adhesive using a tweezer or use a few drops of isopropyl alcohol and remove it with a lint-free cloth
* Now apply the double-sided tape on the new earpiece speaker replacement.
* Meanwhile holding the antenna above the earpiece speaker replacement.
* Now connect the press connector of the antenna to the logic board.
* Gently press the antenna with your thumb to adhere it to the earpiece speaker.
Step #18. Reassemble the Front Camera of the iPhone 16
* Reassemble the front camera.
* Carefully settle the front camera and press using the thumb to confirm it’s fitting.
* Contest its press connectors to the logic board.
Step #19. Reassemble the Top Bracket
* Correctly reassemble the top bracket. Check the screw holes for correct placement.
* Now fasten 4 screws to secure the bracket.
* One 3.4 mm, one 1.0 mm and two 1.4 mm long screws. Make sure you put the right screw in the right hole.
Step #20. Reassemble the Back Glass of the iPhone 16
Now is a great time to test your repair before fully sealing the phone. Reconnect the battery and back glass temporarily, then power on your phone to check that everything is functioning properly. Once you are sure it’s working as expected, power it off again and continue with the reassembly.
How to Apply New Adhesive Replacement on the iPhone 16 Back Glass
* Before applying new adhesive make sure the phone’s frame and back glass are completely clean. Use a soft cloth or a little isopropyl alcohol to remove any leftover adhesive or dirt. This will help the new adhesive stick properly.
* Take the new adhesive strips out of the packaging. Make sure to align them with the back glass and frame so they fit perfectly. Check that all the holes and cutouts for the camera, buttons, and other components line up correctly.
* Carefully peel off the backing from one side of the adhesive. Try not to touch the sticky part with your fingers to avoid losing its grip. If needed use tweezers to handle the adhesive strips for better precision.
* Gently place the adhesive onto the frame of the phone. Press down evenly as you work your way around the perimeter of the frame. Please make sure the adhesive sticks well. Go slowly and take your time to ensure it is aligned correctly.
* After applying the adhesive to the frame peel off the second backing from the top side. This will expose the adhesive so the back glass can be attached.
Now connect the Battery and charging coil press connector to the logic board
*Reassemble the middle connector cover. Please align the cover over its socket and press down with your fingers. Feel the click sound to make sure its hook is locked now. Don’t apply extra force.
* Carefully align the back glass with the phone’s frame. Once everything is lined up, press down firmly on the back glass. Make sure to apply even pressure across the surface to ensure a good seal.
* Go around the edges of the phone to make sure the back glass is properly attached and there are no gaps. If you see any spots where the adhesive didn’t stick, press down again to secure it.
* For the best results allow the adhesive to set properly. You can place a heavy book or object on top of the phone for a few minutes to help the adhesive bond.
* Once the adhesive has set, inspect the back glass again to make sure it is secure and aligned. If everything looks good your back glass replacement is complete.
*And the back Glass of the iPhone 16 has been reassembled.
Step #21. Fasten Pentalobe Screws
* After reassembling the phone, check that the screw holes on the bottom of the iPhone 16 are properly aligned with the frame.
* Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to insert the screws into the holes located on either side of the charging port. Be careful as you place each screw.
* Gently tighten the screws with the screwdriver. Make sure they are snug but avoid over-tightening. As this could damage the frame or strip the screws.
* Once the screws are in place inspect the edges of the phone to make sure the back glass and frame are tightly secured.
* Press and hold the power button on the side of the phone until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
* Allow the phone to boot up completely. This might take a few seconds so be patient.
* Once the phone powers on, check that everything is working properly, including the screen, touch sensitivity, and camera. And yes the new earpiece speaker replacement.
